Are You A New Mom? Housecleaning Tips So You Can Spend More Time With Your Baby

Posted on: 20 July 2016

Being a new mom, you know how busy your life can be. This is especially true if you do not have a lot of help. Trying to keep a house clean when dealing with a new baby is an almost impossible feat. Fortunately, you can win your battle by follow the tips below. You can then have a clean home and spend the time that you want to spend with your precious baby.

Home Cleaning Services

If it is in your budget, the easiest way to keep your house clean is by using a home cleaning service. Because you will likely be handing your keys over to someone, you need to take time to find the right service for you.

Doing some general cleaning before they arrive can help you pay less. This is because the less cleaning they have to do, the less time it will take them. Simply picking up things off the floor and putting away things where they need to go can be a big help.

If you want to stay home while they are there, that is fine, but you can also leave and let them completely take over.

Some of the services the cleaning service will provide include:

  • Thoroughly clean bathrooms and kitchen
  • Vacuum the entire house
  • Mop floors
  • Make all beds
  • Dust all surfaces, including lighting fixtures and baseboards

If you ask the home cleaning service to do a deep cleaning of your home, they will likely consider this as an additional service and charge you more money.

Tips to Cleaning Yourself

If it is not in your budget to hire a cleaning service, there are things you can do to make cleaning a little easier for you. One room that may be hard to keep clean is your bathroom.  If so, below are some tips on how you can clean a shower and keep it that way.

To clean a shower, a baking soda paste works well to take care of stubborn stains on tiles. Mix two parts baking soda and one part water to make a paste. Wipe the paste onto the stains and then scrub.

Make a great glass cleaner by filling a spray bottle with half vinegar and half water. This will also clean any reflective surface.

Use a shower spray once a day to keep the shower clean. This spray works well to keep soap scum away. You can purchase a shower spray or you can make your own. One way to make it includes:

  • 1 cup of vodka
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 20 drops of essential peppermint oil

Mix all together and put into a spray bottle. Keep this bottle in the shower and ask everyone in your home to spray down the walls when they finish showering.
